Weekend Warriors

Wow!  What a weekend!  We started if off Friday night with taco night and got to have some of Ryan's mom's delicious homemade salsa.  YUM.
Too bad all of our taco shells were busted up.  Thanks Ortega.
It was still super delicious!

Saturday morning I got up early and headed to Bear Creek Lake Park to meet up with a few other girls and practice a triathlon.  It was my first open water swim and my first practice where I did swim, bike, and run back to back.  It was great to get the practice in and fun to do it with other girls participating in the race.  I forgot to get a picture at the park but here I am tired and sweaty after I got home.

Then Ryan took me to Mannekin Frites, a new french fry shop in Olde Town Arvada.  All they serve is fresh, thick-cut french fries, various dipping sauces for the fries, and beer.  The fries and beer were delicious!

We got Ryan some new shades because he busted his on a mountain bike ride a little over a week ago.

Then we thought we would watch Transformer 2 at home in preparation for watching Transformers 3 at some point in the theaters, but a friend called Ryan and offered us 2 tickets to the Broncos game that they weren't using.  So to the preseason game we went!  And the Broncos won!

This morning we got up bright and early to run the Warrior Dash at Copper Mountain with Scott, Sue, and Lauren!  The Warrior Dash is a 3.15 mile trail run with 11 obstacles, like crawling through a mud pit under barbed wire, climbing up a cargo net, running on a balance beam, etc.,  along the way.

Here we are before the race:

Here Sue is pinning on Scott's bib.  Even though he completely busted up his shoulder yesterday on a mountain bike race he still walked the entire race trail.  Some people thought it was his costume because a ton of people dress up for this event!  (I ran by Papa Smurf for a while).

And here we all are after!

Our Warrior faces.  I think Ryan managed to get mud on every part of his body.

Reward for the hard work:

The drive home took forever but we stopped in Idaho Springs for some Beaujo's pizza.  We had so much fun today doing the Warrior Dash with friends!
