Happy 4th of July!

Hopefully everyone had a great 4th of July weekend!  Ryan and I were lucky enough to have a nice 3 (and a half) day weekend and we enjoyed it to the fullest.  This is the first year since we've lived here that we haven't gone to the Rockies game over the 4th but we filled our time this year with all kinds of other activities.

We kicked off the weekend by celebrating Ryan's recent promotion to the West/Midwest Regional Sales Manager for his company.  On Friday night we walked to Tequila's for some delicious Mexican food and drinks on the patio.  Tequila's is my favorite Mexican restaurant and we just happen to have one about a mile away.  Unfortunately, walking to Tequila's always seems like a good idea before we've had dinner and drinks; however, it never seems like as great of an idea afterwards.  Oh well.  At least it allows us to get home safely, especially after the bartender served me an extra margarita on the house and poured tequila from the bottle right down Ryan's throat.  Did I mention Tequila's is my favorite Mexican restaurant?

Then on Saturday morning we headed up to Red Feather Lakes to spend a couple days at a friend from church's lake cabin.  We brought Bumblebee with us because we have all the dogs and there was another couple also staying at the cabin and we were able to set up on his property.  I'd never been to the Red Feather Lakes area and it is beautiful!  I love being around water and there was plenty of it up there.  Also, it's at high altitude so the weather is about 10-15 degrees cooler than in the city so it was very comfortable for outdoor activities.  We were able to take walks and grill outside.  We so enjoyed the relaxing time that we never got around to riding the ATVs which is too bad because we saw so many other people riding them and it looked like so much fun!  Here are some pics of the cabin, the surrounding views, and the five us there this weekend.

Monday we used our day off to take care of some housekeeping items.  Ryan was mowing, trimming trees, and staining the railroad ties that are incorporated into a pathway.  I mainly just did laundry and cooked.  We also got to go for an hour bike ride, which was awesome.  I'm now fitted to my bike and it's such a much more comfortable ride!  We finished the night by playing some pool and watching Robin Hood.

While Ryan and I thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend, I can't say the entire family had a great weekend.  Someone DOES NOT like fireworks.  That's a German Shepherd's foot and tail you see peeking out from under our bed.  Hehe.
